How to Form Acrylic Sheets
If you have an electric oven, then you can mold acrylic. It can be time consuming, but forming acrylic can become a great tool for your craft projects. Allow time to practice this technique before diving into a project. Testing different temperatures and times will allow you to perfect your acrylic molding technique.
Things You'll Need
- Sheets of acrylic
- Heat-resistant gloves
- Baking sheets
- Tongs
- Scriber or knife

Using mild soap and warm water, wash the acrylic sheets and blot dry with a damp cloth.

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.

Place four small wooden blocks on the baking sheet. These blocks will prevent the acrylic from sticking to the baking sheet. You can use any item to support the sheet of acrylic, as long as it won't adhere to the acrylic as it heats.

If necessary, cut acrylic to fit on baking sheet and your mold.

Lay acrylic across blocks and place in oven for 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on the acrylic to make sure it has not become too soft, making it difficult to mold.

When at desired consistency, remove form oven and place in mold. Have mold ready to prevent the acrylic from cooling off before you have finished the molding.

Tips & Warnings
Have extra pieces of acrylic to practice with before beginning your project. This will help you know the best temperature and times to bake your acrylic.
