How to Troubleshoot a Summit Induction Cooktop

Mary McNally

The Summit Induction Cooktop contains magnetic coils beneath its glass ceramic surface. When the cooktop is turned on, these coils send a magnetic current through the pot or pan placed on the cooking surface. This current heats up the cookware and the food it contains.

Use a magnet to determine if your cookware is appropriate for use with an induction cooktop.

Induction cooking is very efficient; however, there are a few tips you can use to troubleshoot your Summit Induction Cooktop should you find you are having problems with it.

E0 Error

  1. Put a pan on the cooktop surface if you receive an E0 error. This error indicates the absence of cookware on the ceramic surface.

  2. Remove your cookware if you are still receiving an error.

  3. Hold a magnet next to your cookware. If the magnet sticks to the cookware, it is appropriate to use with an induction cooktop.

  4. Place the cookware back on the cooktop if the magnet sticks, or replace it with appropriate cookware if the magnet does not stick.

E1 Error

  1. Turn off the cooktop.

  2. Remove the cookware from the cooktop.

  3. Unblock any external ventilation slots.

  4. Let the cooktop cool down for at least 10 minutes.

  5. Place the cookware back on the cooktop and turn it on again.

E2 Error

  1. Check to see if there is any food in the pan.

  2. Place food in the pan if there isn't any in it.

  3. Turn the cooktop off if the error does not disappear and let it cool down for at least 10 minutes.

  4. Resume cooking by placing the cookware back on the cooktop and turning it on again.

E3 Error

  1. Turn off the cooktop.

  2. Check your house's fuse box for blown fuses, tripped circuit breakers or voltage fluctuations. Replace any blown fuses and reset the tripped circuit breakers if necessary.

  3. Let the cooktop cool down for at least 10 minutes.

  4. Turn the cooktop back on and resume cooking.

Tip

Flat-bottomed cookware made from magnetic stainless steel, cast iron, enameled iron and nickel will all work with an induction cooktop.

Warning

Rounded-bottom cookware measuring less than 12 cm (4.7 inches), pots with stands, heat resistant glass, ceramic containers, non-magnetic stainless steel and aluminum and copper pans will not work with an induction cooktop.
