Clean the windshield thoroughly. Use a razor blade to remove any glass chips, and scrape away any residue from the surface. Mix three parts vinegar to one part water in a container and use this solution to clean the windshield with a sponge or rag. Dry the surface before continuing.

2
Measure the size of the windshield star, including the length and number of "rays" extending out from the center of the star.

3
Purchase a windshield repair kit if the crack contains no more than two rays that are a half-inch or shorter in length. If the crack is larger, consult a professional to determine if the crack can be repaired.
-
4
Apply the repair adhesive according to the manufacturer's instructions in the kit. The directions vary by kit, but will most will likely involve injecting the adhesive with a syringe and sucking the air out of the crack.
-
5
Let the adhesive fully cure and dry, then use the razor blade to shave off any ragged edges or bubbles.
