How to Access SanDisk 8GB SDHC Card with a Dell Inspiron

SanDisk 8GB SDHC cards are no different than standard SD cards except they are high capacity, which is what the "HC" stands for. High capacity means that SDHC cards can hold 4GB up to 32GB of data. Many Dell customers have noticed that their Inspiron laptops are unable to access SanDisk SDHC cards through the card reader. This happens because the laptop does not have the proper drivers for SDHC. By downloading the necessary SD drivers for your Dell Inspiron laptop, you can access your SDHC cards.

  • Download the SD drivers (see Resources).

  • Double-click on the downloaded ".exe" file.

  • Follow the steps in the Installation Wizard.

  • Restart your laptop.
