How to Lay Down the Seats of a 2003 Chevy Cavalier

Save

The 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier has folding back seats. The back seats are locked into place via a latch. The latch is controlled by two straps in the trunk. You can use these two straps to lay down the Cavalier's back seat. The back seat is split in the middle; it is made up of two separate sections. Laying the seats down allows you to carry larger items in the car's trunk.

  • Inspect the back seat cushion for loose items. Move them out of the way to make room for the seats to lay down.

  • Step to the back of the Cavalier. Open the car's trunk. Find the two straps in the front part of the trunk area. These unlock the back seats. Pull both straps.

  • Grasp the top edge of either section of the back seat. Push it down toward the cushion to lay the section down. Move to the other side and lay the other section down.

  • Push each back seat section firmly back in place to return to the usual position. The seats automatically lock into position.
