Place the infrared (IR) receiver near the device that you want to control, preferably in front of the IR sensor on the device.

Place the IR transmitter near the area where you will be using your remote control.

Plug in both the receiver and transmitter.

Point the remote control at the transmitter and push a button to verify that the transmitter and receiver are communicating and that the desired device is being controlled.
