How to Change the Print Order

Save

Most operating systems, including Windows 7, allow users to print multiple items at once. Whether you're printing a photograph, word-processing document or Internet page, all print items appear in the same print queue. After selecting more than one item to be printed, a user may change his mind about what should be printed first. Luckily, changing the print order can be done quickly.

  • Click the "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.

  • Select "Devices and Printers" from the menu.

  • Double-click on the name of your printer and select "See what's printing" on the printer's command bar.

  • Right-click the file or document for which you want to change the print order and select "Properties" from the menu.

  • Go to the "General" tab and click the "Priority" tab. Drag the tab to the right to increase the print item's priority, and to the left to lower the print item's priority. Items with the highest print priority will be moved to the top of the print list. Lowering a print priority will move it down on the ordered print list.

  • Click "OK" at the bottom of the screen to apply the changes.
