How to Remove an Auto Tire Valve Stem

How to Remove an Auto Tire Valve Stem thumbnail
Replacing a damaged valve stem often cures hard-to-find air leaks.

A tire valve stem is a one-way valve that allows air to enter a tire but not exit. Depressing the center pin of the valve stem opens the valve, allowing air to exit an inflated tire. Air can leak around the rubber exterior of a valve stem if damaged. Removing a leaking valve stem is the only way to stop a damaged valve stem from leaking.
