How to Remove a Chevrolet Impala Steering-Column Cover

You may need to occasionally access the interior of the steering column of your Chevrolet Impala to check for a disconnected wire or short in the wiring. The Impala has an easy-access cover on the bottom side of the column that's held on with a few Torx screws. You can remove the cover yourself in a few minutes' time to avoid making a trip to a mechanic.

      Unfasten the negative battery cable of the Chevrolet Impala from the battery post with an open-end wrench before removing the steering-wheel-column cover.

      Locate the steering-wheel-column cover underneath the center of the steering column.

      Remove the Torx screws that hold the cover in place with a Torx screwdriver.

      Take the cover off of the Chevrolet Impala steering column.
