How to Program the 2006 Hyundai Sonata Remote

The Hyundai Sonata comes equipped with a keyless-entry remote-control key fob that allows you to unlock your doors and trunk from a distance, just by hitting a button. Occasionally, you will have to reprogram the remote in order to re-sync the signal to your car's transmitter device. Reprogramming may be necessary if your remote control's battery goes out or if your remote malfunctions. Luckily, reprogramming your Hyundai Sonata's keyless entry remote is rather simple.
Step 1
Sit inside your Sonata while holding your remote-control key fob in your hand. Close the door behind you.
Step 2
Put the Sonata's key in the ignition, then turn it to the "on" position but do not start the engine. Press "Lock" on the remote, then turn the key back to the "off" position..
Step 3
Repeat step two three more times. Make sure you leave the key in the "on" position when you've finished the last repetition.
Step 4
Press "Lock" on your remote as you wait for the car door locks to cycle. You'll hear a clunking sound from all the doors at once. This sound means the car has initialized the programming sequence.
Step 5
Press the "Lock" button once more within five seconds of completing Step 4.
Tips
- If you want to program multiple remotes at once, just repeat Step 5 for each remote.
