Many gas fireplaces have remote controls to turn on the fireplace, and to control the length of time the fire burns and the temperature of the fireplace, all from a distance. If your gas fireplace came with a remote control it may do only one or all of these things, depending on the brand. However, all fireplace remotes need batteries to function properly.       Check your gas fireplace remote's battery pack. Be sure the batteries are inserted properly and in working order. Most fireplace remotes use AA or 1.3 to 1/6 volt batteries.

      Point the remote at the gas fireplace's sensor. This might be a wall-mounted unit or the gas fireplace itself.

      Click "Power On" on the remote to turn on the fireplace. Click "Up" to increase the temperature and "Down" to decrease the temperature.

      Click "Set" and enter a length of time for the fireplace to run. Click "Power Off" to turn off the fireplace.
