How to Store a Long Gun in a Jeep Wrangler
Jeep Wranglers make fantastic off-road vehicles. Wranglers are popular with hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts because they are small and lightweight enough to fit down narrow trails while still providing plenty of room inside for carrying supplies and cargo. Jeep Wranglers also offer protection from the elements, unlike ATVs. Jeeps can also be easily cleaned, and the back seats are removable to allow for storing large or long cargo items, such as long hunting rifles and guns.

1
Place the gun inside a weatherproof portable lock box or gun bag. Jeeps are easy to break into, and not well weatherproofed; you will want to make sure that your gun is protected from theft and the elements. If your carrying case does not lock, you will want to purchase a lock for the gun, which will prevent its use during storage, transport or if stolen.
-
2
Measure the length of your gun when it is properly encased in the gun bag or portable lock box, then measure the width of your Jeep Wrangler's back hatch area.
-
-
3
Place the gun across the top of the back door hatch, resting it on the ledges created on the inside of the body, above the tail lights, where the roll cage attaches to the body of the Jeep.
Depending on the length of your gun and the model of your Wrangler, most guns will fit in this area of your Jeep without having to remove the backseat.
-
4
Remove the back seat.
If your gun does not fit across the back hatch or you are attempting to carry multiple guns or other large cargo items, remove the back seat of your Jeep. Jeep Wrangler back seats snap in and out, so you can remove the seat by flipping up the two hinges at the back of the seat, folding the seat over on top of itself and pulling it out of the truck.
Lay your gun lengthwise or diagonally across the newly-created space, with the muzzle pointing towards the back of the Jeep.
-
5
Place the gun inside the lip of the door frame on the passenger's side of the Jeep. There is space similar to a cubby hole inside the body of your Jeep, under the lip where the door frame meets the door--place the gun inside this area, with its muzzle facing towards the back of the truck.

Tips & Warnings
Check with your local law enforcement to find out any specific laws regarding the transport of weapons in vehicles.
Guns are dangerous and should not be transported loaded or handled by anyone not experienced with weapons. Guns can and do kill on a regular basis.
