How to Make a Melted Crayon Jar

How to Make a Melted Crayon Jar thumbnail
Crayons can really brighten up an old jar.

You have a bunch of old jars laying around and you don't know what to do with them. Sure they're nice for holding things like flowers or pencils, but they aren't very pretty to look at and definitely not something you want people to see laying around the house. There is good news, though: You can fix that dullness with just some crayons and sun, and in no time at all you will have colorful jars filled with your favorite things brightening up your house.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Remove paper from around the crayons and break the crayons into small pieces.

    • 2

Tear off a 12-inch-long piece of aluminum foil. Place the foil outside in direct sunlight. Spread out crayon pieces on aluminum foil.

    • 3

Watch the crayons, and after the crayons begin to melt and are still lumpy, roll the jar onto the melting crayons.

    • 4

Stop rolling the jar after the outside of the jar is coated with crayons. Take the jar to a cool place to dry. The crayons will set almost immediately and the crayon jar will be finished and ready to be used.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a ribbon or bows to the outside of your jar to make it more colorful.

  • Keep your jar from getting too warm and out of direct sunlight. The heat will cause the crayons to melt off your jar.
