How do I Remove a Moen Sink Faucet?

Save

As part of a bath or kitchen remodeling project, or simply upgrading your home's plumbing fixtures to add a new look, removing the existing sink faucet will be the first step in the process. The procedure for removing a Moen sink faucet is simply accomplished and common to all Moen faucets.

Things You'll Need

  • Plastic bucket
  • 10-inch adjustable wrench
  • Turn the water supply to the faucet off by closing the two valves located under the sink on the rear wall. Close the valves by turning the handles clockwise until snug.

  • Place a plastic bucket beneath the lines as they're being disconnected to catch any water left in the line.

  • Detach the hot water supply line from the faucet by loosening and removing the small hex nut connecting the line to the left water valve using a 10-inch adjustable wrench.

  • Detach the cold water supply line from the faucet by loosening and removing the small hex nut connecting the line to the right water valve using a 10-inch adjustable wrench.

  • Disconnect the faucet assembly from the sink by loosening and removing the base retention bolt located at the center of the faucet beneath the sink by turning the nut counter-clockwise until free. Squeeze the two water lines together, then slide the nut and washer down and off of the lines.

  • Lift the faucet assembly and gasket upward to remove them from the sink deck, feeding the water lines through the center sink fixture hole.
