How to Assemble a Bass Drum of a Ludwig Junior Drum Kit
Ludwig is one of the premier drum companies in the United States. The Ludwig Junior drum kit is an inexpensive drum set for the young drummer who is just starting out. It is specifically targeted for children between three and eight years old. The Ludwig's Junior kit is a five-piece drum set with cymbals included. The drums and cymbals are smaller than a regular size kit, making it more accessible to the young drummer. The Ludwig Junior bass drum is 16 inches-by-10 inches. A standard bass drum is 20 inches-by-14 inches. As of September 2010, the drum kit lists for $460, but you can find stores selling it for $300 or less.

1
Place a rubber mat or carpet on the floor. Drum shops sell rubber mats specifically designed for drum. The mat or carpet prevents the bass drum from sliding forward as you play it. Set-up the drum kit in a space large enough to accommodate the kit which allows you to easily play it without feeling crowded.

2
Place the bass drum on the mat or carpet. Loosen the two legs (spurs) of the bass drum and allow them to touch the carpet. Tighten both legs after they are level.

3
Attach the bass drum pedal to the slot on the bottom rim of the bass drum. Slide the pedal into place. Tighten the pedal by turning the fastener clockwise.
-
4
Set the drum stool behind the bass drum. Sit down and adjust the appropriate distance between the stool and the bass. You should be able to play the bass pedal comfortably with your right foot.
