How to Turn a Laptop Into a Touchscreen
Most laptops are being produced with touchscreen functions. Converting a laptop without touchscreen capabilities to one with touchscreen can be difficult or easy. Replacing the old screen with a new touchscreen is very difficult and requires the entire machine to be opened up. Adding a touchscreen overlay is an easy and affordable way to enjoy touchscreen capabilities without damaging the laptop.
Things You'll Need
- Touchscreen overlay
- Mounts, clips or Velcro
- Receiver
- Controller
- USB cord
- Software CD

Install Touchscreen Overlay

Shut down the computer. This is standard for any device installation.

Position the touchscreen overlay to the screen. Use the mounting clips or Velcro that will come with the overlay.

Place the touchscreen receiver on one side of the screen. It is best if this is on the same side as the USB port that will hold the overlay controller.

Attach the touchscreen controller to the USB port with the provided USB cable.

Turn the laptop back on and insert the software disc into the disc drive. Run the installation software to install the software needed to run the overlay.

Click on the icon that will appear on the desktop or task bar. Normally this will be a pen icon. Right click on the icon and choose the appropriate mode. Start using your laptop as a touchscreen.
