How to Troubleshoot a Clean Corona Wire on Drum Error Message on a Brother 7820 thumbnail
The corona wire pulls ink onto the paper.

The Brother 7820 is a multifunction copier, printer and fax machine that is compatible with Windows and Macintosh personal computers. The 7820 toner drum assembly contains a corona wire that uses an electric charge to move toner from the drum onto the paper being printed. If the corona wire becomes dirty, the unit will not be able to function, and you'll receive an error message. Cleaning the corona wire will clear the error message and allow the copy or print job to continue.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the unit off. Open the 7820's front cover. Pull the drum unit and cartridge assembly straight out, and set on a cloth or disposable paper.

    • 2

Locate the blue tab on the top of the drum unit. Slide the blue tab from right to left several times. This cleans the corona wire inside the drum unit.

    • 3

Move the blue tab back to its original position, marked by a triangle.

    • 4

Replace the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly into the 7820. Close the front cover. Turn the unit back on.

Tips & Warnings

  • Repeat the steps if the error does not disappear after cleaning the corona wire.
