Robert Burns said, "O my Luve's like a red, red rose That’s newly sprung in June; O my Luve's like the melodie That’s sweetly play'd in tune." Red roses have been a symbol of love for hundreds of years. Red rose favors are especially appropriate for a June wedding. Make a rose out of two candy kisses and a piece of netting for a lovely, inexpensive wedding favor.
Things You'll Need
- 2 red-foiled chocolate candy kisses
- Bamboo skewer
- Red netting
- Floral tape
- Silk leaves
Place the flat sides of two kisses together. Stick a bamboo skewer through the two kisses from point to point, stopping just before the point of the skewer pokes out the other side.
Cut a 4-inch square of netting. Place the top point of the kisses in the center of the square and wrap the netting down over the rosebud. Twist the edges of the netting around the skewer.
Wrap floral tape around the base of the rosebud and the twisted netting, stretching the tape slightly as you wrap, which makes it stick more securely. Continue wrapping the tape all the way down the skewer. Tear off the tape at the end.
Add silk leaves or a ribbon bow, if desired.
Tips & Warnings
- You may use cellophane or tulle instead of netting.
- You may use a floral wire stem, but do not push it into the chocolate. Floral wire is not food safe. Instead glue or tape the kisses together and push the wire into the netting.
