Some Maytag dishwasher models, such as the Performa, use a spray tower to direct water throughout the dishwasher. Unlike many models, the Maytag mounts the tower spray directly onto the lower dish rack. Removing and reinstalling the tower spray assembly on your Maytag dishwasher requires no tools. The tower spray simply twists on and off the dish rack. Replacement towers are available through Maytag and Sears.
Things You'll Need
- Replacement spray tower
Turn off the circuit breaker to your Maytag dishwasher. The circuit breaker is in your home electrical panel box.
Open the dishwasher door, and pull out the lower rack. The rack will simply pull out of the dishwasher.
Grasp the spray tower assembly in the center of the rack with your hands, and turn it counterclockwise to release it from the rack.
Insert the replacement spray tower into the rack so that the bottom of the tower is flush to the wire rack. Rotate the tower clockwise to lock the tower onto the rack. There are two tabs on the bottom of the tower that lock over the dish rack.
Slide the dish rack back into the dishwasher and close the door. Turn on the circuit breaker to the dishwasher.
Tips & Warnings
- There is no need to disassemble the spray tower. The replacement tower comes completely assembled when purchasing the replacement.
