Glycerin is a thick liquid that has no smell or color and is commonly used in household and bath products. Glycerin is also used in some foods as a filler or thickening agent and has a slightly sweet taste. Pure glycerin has antibacterial properties and can be used to treat bites, rashes or burns on the skin. Commonly used in soap, a homemade soap can be made with liquid soap and glycerin fairly inexpensively and easily. Liquid glycerin can be purchased at many natural health and beauty stores.

Boil 1 cup of water in a pot on the stove. Pour boiling water into a glass blender jar.

Add 1 cup of clear liquid soap to the water in the blender jar and close the jar with the lid. Blend until combined.

Pour in 1/2 cup room-temperature water and blend.

Add 1 tbsp. honey and 1 tsp. liquid glycerin to the mixture and blend until combined.

Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes or until cool. Blend again. Add 4 cups of slightly cold water to the mixture and blend.

Pour liquid soap into containers but do not close the containers. Allow to sit for one hour and then place lids on the containers.

Shake the containers before using to combine ingredients if settling has occurred.
