How do I Recover a Dell S500?

You can access Norton Ghost during a Dell computer's start-up process.

All Dell computers come with Norton Ghost (a system recovery program by Symantec) pre-installed. If you are having issues with your Dell S500 due to viruses, too many programs, and the like, you can easily recover it using Norton Ghost. Norton Ghost allows you to restore your computer to the same settings as a specific past date or restore it to its original factory settings.

Instructions

1. Turn the computer on.

2. Press "Ctrl" and "F11" when the Dell start-up screen opens. Release the keys. Make sure to only press them once.

3. Click the "Accept" button on the license agreement.

4. Click "Recover My Computer" to restore your computer to a specific date or "Recover My Computer to Original Dell Configuration" to restore it to its original factory settings.

5. Select a date in the calendar to recover your computer from if you chose "Recover My Computer" and click "OK."

6. Click "Yes" in the next window. The recovery process will then begin. When it is complete, your computer will restart.
