How to Minimize Heat Build Up in an HP Pavilion Laptop
Laptops are a great way to use your computer files in the living room, from your bedroom or on the go. Laptops are constantly becoming faster, thinner and built with even greater capability. All of these extra options come at a price of course--laptops produce a greater amount of heat and have less internal room for air flow. Heat can be bad for your HP Pavilion laptop, but with a few easy alterations you can cool your computer down.

1
Make sure your laptop has plenty of air flow. While it's convenient to work from your bed or on the cushions of your couch, this can cause your laptop to overheat. Use your laptop on a flat surface that allows for plenty of unobstructed air flow.
-
2
Use your laptop for shorter periods of time. If you leave your laptop constantly running, you increase the chance of overheating. Turn your laptop off at night and use it for only two to three hours at a time.

If your laptop starts to feel warm, switch to Powersaver mode. Microsoft has designed ways to save power with your monitor, processors and computer components. Switching to Powersaver mode allows you to cut back on the stress put on your computer.
-
4
Clean your computer fan. Fonerbooks.com suggests that you turn off your laptop PC, pop off the plastic piece covering most HP laptop fans and use a Q-tip to clean off the dust.
-
5
Take your computer to your local laptop store and have it cleaned. Over years, dust and dirt build up in your computer and every two to three years it's a good idea to take apart the computer and have it cleaned.
