How to Convert an ODT File to a Word Document

OpenDocument Text (ODT) is the file extension for text documents that are part of the XML-based OpenDocument Format. To use and convert ODT files, you need OpenOffice.org Writer, a word-processing program similar to Microsoft Word. Microsoft cautions that converting from .ODT to Word's .DOC format may lead to formatting differences. While your text will not change, certain features, such as frames and custom footnote or endnote separators, are not supported.
