How to Thread a Singer Bobbin
Winding a bobbin on a sewing machine should be completed prior to threading the machine. This saves having to re-thread the sewing machine while in the middle of a project. Disengage the sewing machine prior to beginning the threading process, as it is not necessary for the needle to move up and down while the bobbin is being threaded. Also, ensure the spool of thread that will be used to thread the bobbin is securely in place.

1
Prevent the needle from moving by pushing the indent on the hand-wheel disc.
-
2
Place the spool of thread on the spool pin on the back of the sewing machine. The majority of Singer sewing machines use the same spool pin that is used when threading the machine when sewing. Secure it by placing the pin cap firmly over the spool.

3
Take the thread from the spool and wrap it clockwise around the thread guide, located on top of the machine, so there is enough thread to reach to the bobbin with a 2-inch tail. The thread guide looks like a silver button. The thread will cross itself as it is taken to the bobbin.
-
4
Push the bobbin winder pin left until it clicks. The bobbin winder is located on the top of the machine on the upper right. It has a short spindle where the bobbin will sit.
-
5
Insert the thread through a hole on the bobbin rim from the inside to the outside. Wrap the thread around the bobbin three or four times. Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder.
-
6
Hold firmly onto the thread that is sticking out from the rim of the bobbin. Depress the speed control slowly so the bobbin will wrap a small amount of thread. Stop the threading process and cut off the end of the bobbin thread. Depress the speed control and wind the bobbin with the desired amount of thread.
