How to Make a Rose From a Palm Tree
Palm roses are made out of palm tree leaves and can add a decorative touch to any table, shelf or display case. The historical significance of the palm leaf stems from Palm Sunday, which is a Christian holiday that falls on the Sunday before Easter. Palm Sunday marks Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem one week before his resurrection, when his followers placed palms on the ground in front of him. Making a palm rose is an easy and fun craft project that can be done with family, friends and children.

1
Place two pieces of palm leaves perpendicular to one another, creating a 90 degree L-shape. Make sure the vertical palm leaf is on top of the horizontal piece, letting the width of the palm leaf stick out by the vertical leaf. Fold this excess piece of the horizontal piece up onto the vertical leaf.

2
Create a strong and solid corner by sliding the vertical leaf in behind the horizontal leaf. Lay the horizontal leaf directly in front of the vertical leaf. Once done, reverse the steps, laying the vertical leaf in front of the horizontal leaf and the horizontal leaf behind the vertical leaf. Continue to fold the vertical leaf behind the horizontal leaf, sliding the horizontal leaf under the vertical.

Take the horizontal leaf in the L-shape and loop it through the knot created in the previous step. Pull the leaf about halfway through, creating a half-bow. Create another loop and pull the end through the knot again, creating an even bow. Repeat this step with the vertical palm leaf, creating first a half-bow then an even bow.

Make the four loops into a rose by putting the right loop into the left loop. Continue to loop the top loop over both the left and right loops and secure the bottom loop by pulling it over all three loops. The rose is now complete.
