How to Draw Flowers & Butterflies
Flowers and butterflies are images popular with young girls who enjoy the natural world. Even though the children may appreciate these things, they might not immediately know how to draw them. You can teach a simple drawing lesson to very young children and give them easy steps to follow in order to draw flowers and butterflies. Start out by drawing in plain pencil. Children can then use this knowledge to draw a variety of butterflies in several colors of markers or crayons.
Instructions
-
Draw a Flower
-
1
Draw an upside-down "U" shape, moving from left to right. Do not pick up the pencil. Draw another "U" with the open end facing the left. Do not pick up the pencil. Continue making these "U" shapes with the open side always facing the center, moving clockwise until you meet back at the starting point. You have made the flower blossom.
-
2
Place a filled-in dot in the center of the blossom. Make sure it does not go outside the lines of the blossom. You have made the center of the flower.
-
-
3
Draw a line straight down from the bottom of the flower. You have made the flower stem.
-
4
Draw one filled-in oval on each side of the stem. They can be the same height from the bottom of the stem or at different heights on each side. You have made the flower's leaves.
Draw a Butterfly
-
5
Make a sideways lowercase letter "m" with the bumps facing the left, moving from the top and going down. Make another letter "m" that starts and ends at same place as the first, but has the bumps facing the right. You have the butterfly's wings.
-
6
Draw a letter "v" so the bottom point touches the top of the butterfly's body at the place where you started drawing both of the "m's." You have made the butterfly's antennae.
-
7
Draw a filled-in circle on the top of each antenna to add detail.
