Although learning about ancient Egypt can be exciting at times, it can be helpful to offer your students an interactive craft project that will excite their minds and maintain their attentions. Creating a sphinx out of sugar cubes can show students how difficult it must have been to create such a structure out of heavy stones. To make a sugar cube sphinx, it is helpful to abide by a set of easy steps.

Things You'll Need
Paintbrush
Craft Glue
Cardboard, 6 Inches Wide By 8 Inches Long
100 To 200 Small Sugar Cubes
Acrylic Paint, Tan
Step 1
Cover the surface of a 6-inch by 8-inch piece of cardboard with craft glue.

Step 2
Place sugar cubes onto the glue in the form of an oval with two 1-inch lines sticking out from one end.
Step 3
Fill in the oval with more sugar cubes.
Step 4
Squeeze craft glue onto the tops of the sugar cubes.
Step 5
Add on another layer of sugar cubes. Repeat this process until the oval and lines are about 4 inches tall.
Step 6
Squeeze glue onto the tops of one-third of the sugar cubes located on one end of the oval.
Step 7
Build up the end until it is an additional 2 inches high. This will be the head of the sphinx. Allow the glue to dry completely.
Step 8
Paint the sugar cube sphinx with tan acrylic paint. Allow the paint to dry completely before displaying it.
