The coolant tank on an automobile can accumulate a large amount of deposits that are very hard to remove. Before going out and purchasing a new tank, try the coffee remedy. Coffee grains, unlike the popular sugar option, do not dissolve in water and the grains offer the abrasive quality needed to clean off deposits. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 1/2 cup coffee grinds (not instant)

Instructions

      Measure out 1/2 cup of coffee grinds.

      Pour the grinds into the empty coolant tank over a bathtub, or another surface that is easily cleaned.

      Add water to fill tank approximately to its halfway point.

    • 4

      Close the tank and shake vigorously until the deposits come off of the sides.

    • 5

      Rinse the tank and check for deposits. If needed, the process may be repeated. Typically when shaken vigorously, the tank should be clean.
