How to Remove Sticky Residue From Kitchen Cupboards
Kitchen cupboards become sticky from cooking grease and dirt. The sticky residue is not attractive, and it can ruin the wood cupboards if it builds up too much. Instead of purchasing commercial products to clean your kitchen cabinets, you can remove the sticky residue with items found around your home. Once you remove the sticky residue, you will need to clean the cabinets regularly to keep them in good condition. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Mild liquid soap
- Bowls
- Sponge
- Vinegar
- Baking soda
- Soft bristled brush
- Towel

Wipe the cupboards down with a mild liquid dish soap and water. Combine two parts of warm water with one part soap in a bowl. Mix the soap and water well, and then soak a sponge in the solution.

Scrub the cabinets with the soap solution. Rinse the cabinets with clean water.

Soak a sponge in vinegar. Wring out any excess liquid, and scrub the sticky residue on the cabinet doors. Clean the hinges, knobs and the outside of any drawers with the vinegar, and then rinse the areas with clean water.

Combine an equal amount of baking soda and water in a bowl. Apply the paste to hard to remove sticky areas on the cabinets, and allow it to set for one hour. Scrub the areas gently with a soft bristled brush, and then rinse thoroughly.

Dry the kitchen cabinets with a towel. Repeat cleaning any leftover sticky residue with soap and water and a baking soda paste.

Tips & Warnings
Use paint thinner on natural wood cabinets as a last resort. Open all windows in the kitchen and wear gloves when working with the paint thinner.
