Cookbook holders are handy to have in your kitchen when you are making a complicated recipe with many ingredients and steps. It is hard to keep referring to the cookbook for the correct steps when your hands are wet, or covered with grease, flour or sticky substances. Cookbook holders keep the book open to the correct page and visible so that you don't need to use your hands to hold the book open. It prevents the book from becoming soiled and stained. Things You'll Need

  • Wood hanger with metal clips
  • Scissors
  • Magazine pictures or stickers
  • Decoupage glue or regular household glue
  • Small foam paintbrush

Instructions

      Grab a wood hanger from your closet. The kind that is useful for hanging up skirts or pants that has two metal clips on it.

      Cut out tiny pictures of kitchen accessories, utensils or other kitchen themed pictures out of magazines.

      Decide where you want to place the items on your wood hanger.

      Use a foam brush to spread decoupage glue or regular white glue thinned with a bit of water onto the wood hanger.

      Place the pictures onto the hanger quickly. You can overlap them and create a collage or simply place them on the hanger randomly. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly.

      Spread another coat of the glue onto the surface of the wood hanger to give it a nice finish and allow it to dry again.

      Hang the decorated hanger from a cabinet knob and place your opened book between each of the two clips. This will successfully hold your cookbook open to the right page; keep it at eye level and off your counter while you are preparing a dish.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can purchase miniature stickers with a kitchen theme and use those instead of pictures out of a magazine to decorate your cookbook holder.

  • Make sure your hanger has the sturdy metal clips, cookbooks are often thick and heavy and plastic clips may break after a few uses.
