How to Remove the Water-Dispenser Plate on a Frigidaire

Save

Leaks behind the water dispenser on your Frigidaire refrigerator usually indicate a water line is loose or damaged. Accessing the water line requires removing the water-dispenser plate on the Frigidaire. The dispenser plate is the decorative piece that covers the inner workings of the dispenser, appearing as the rear wall of the dispenser unit. Removing the plate involves disconnecting a wire ribbon from the controls to pull the plate completely away.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Unplug the Frigidaire refrigerator power cord from the wall outlet. Lift the front of the drip tray below the water dispenser up with your fingers. Pull the it straight out. Removing the drip tray reveals three screws on the front edge of the water-dispenser plate.

  • Remove the three securing screws on the bottom edge of the water-dispenser plate with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Place your fingertips under the bottom edge of the water-dispenser plate and slide the plate up, disengaging the tabs on the rear of the plate from their holes on your Frigidaire.

  • Pull the plate away from the refrigerator and follow the wire ribbon on the back of the dispenser plate to the control board in the refrigerator-door panel. Grasp the wire ribbon connector at the bottom of the control board with your fingers and pull it away from the board. Pull the water-dispenser plate away from your Frigidaire.

Tips & Warnings

  • Disconnecting and reconnecting the wire ribbon at the back of the water-dispenser plate is tedious. Removing the wire ribbon from the control board is much simpler and less frustrating.
