Homemade snow is a great decorative element for many occasions.

Making your own snow flakes from soap powder is a great activity. Snow soap can be made with few ingredients and will provide many hours of fun for you and your little loved ones. For some, snow soap makes a great addition to a decorative item in front of your home. Making snow from soap is simple to do and there are many different recipes available.

  • 1 cup soap powder
  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • cardboard

Instructions

    • 1

      Mix together your soap powder and water until the mixture becomes sudsy. An electric mixer will work best for this step. Make sure that you are using soap powder; Ivory makes a soap powder that works well.

      Scoop or spoon out your mixture and lay it down over the cardboard. Use a spatula make a flat layer of soap on the cardboard, as if you were icing a cake with frosting.

      Let dry undisturbed for at least 10 to 12 hours--overnight works best.

      Peel the snow off the cardboard. Crush it with your hands to create individual snow flakes, or use a cookie cutter to cut bigger shapes out of it. You will be able to tell it is dry because it will be smooth and have a rubber-like consistency.
