How to Remove the Lower Panel of a Kenmore Dishwasher

Save

When replacing the dishwasher heating element or testing the motor, you will need to access the dishwasher from below. The lower panel on your Kenmore dishwasher covers the access panel to the parts below the dishwasher tub. Removing the lower panel on your Kenmore dishwasher is quite simple in comparison to other brands. Many brands require accessing the upper mounting screws between the door and the tub with the door open. Kenmore however has all four mounting screws readily accessible.

Things You'll Need

  • 1/4-inch nut driver or Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Turn off the circuit breaker to the Kenmore dishwasher to cut the power supply to the dishwasher.

  • Locate the two upper mounting screws between the top of the lower panel and the bottom of the door. The screws will be at each upper corner of the lower panel. Turn the screws counter-clockwise with a 1/4-inch nut driver or a Phillips-head screwdriver and remove them from the panel.

  • Push the top of the lower panel in slightly so you can see the two lower mounting screws between the floor and the bottom of the panel. Remove the screws with the nut driver or Phillips-head screwdriver.

  • Pull the lower panel away from the dishwasher and pull the access panel away. The access panel is behind the decorative lower panel. You now have access to the motor and pumps.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always disconnect power to appliances before attempting repairs.
