How to Program an Auto Transporter Ignition Key thumbnail
Electronic keys offer added engine safety.

Auto transponder ignition keys were first introduced in the late 1990s as an extra security measure for your vehicle. Adding convenience and safety to your engine starter, these keys can be programmed and reprogrammed aftermarket in just minutes from your home. The key is programmed to your car's engine and only a programmed key will start your car. This will keep you safe from theft and hot wiring, and allows you to control how many copies are available for the vehicle.

Instructions

  1. Programming the First Key

    • 1

Insert your electronic key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. Allow the key to remain there for 10 minutes and 30 seconds.

    • 2

Turn the key to the "Off" position within 45 seconds and then return it to the "On" position, allowing it to remain for another 10 minutes and 30 seconds.

    • 3

Repeat step two, leaving the key in the ignition for 10 minutes and 30 seconds for a third time.

    • 4

Cycle the key to the "Off" position and then back to the "On" position to end the programming sequence.
