How to Remove Soap Scum From a Tile Shower
Soap scum is common in bathrooms. When you shower or bathe, a light film of soapy residue often is left behind, clinging to the tiles. Over time, the film builds up and gives your tiles and shower doors a dirty, dingy look. Removing soap scum can be a time-consuming task. The best defense against soap scum is prevention. Things You'll Need
- Grease-cutting dishwashing liquid
- Magic eraser
- Cool water
- Towels
- Borax
- Sponge
- Hot water
- Degreasing agent
- Scrub brush
- Ammonia
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
- Spray bottle
Instructions

Magic Eraser and Dishwashing Liquid

Apply a few drops of a grease-cutting dishwashing liquid to a damp Magic Eraser.

Scrub the soap scrum with the eraser. Work in small sections at a time.

Rinse the residue from the shower with cool water. Wipe the shower tile dry with clean towels.
Borax

Sprinkle borax onto a wet sponge.

Scrub shower tile with the sponge in a circular motion.

Rinse the tiles with hot water and wipe them dry with a towel.
Degreasing Agent

Apply a degreasing agent to the tiles after a shower.

Allow the degreasing agent to sit on the tiles for 15 minutes.

Scrub the tiles with a scrub brush.

Rinse the tiles with cool water.

Repeat the process several times until the soap scum is gone.
Soap Scum Remover

Mix together 1/3 cup of ammonia, 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 6 cups of water.

Pour the solution into a clean spray bottle.

Spray the tiles with the solution. Allow the solution to sit for five minutes.

Wipe the tiles with a sponge to remove the soap scum. Do not rinse.

Tips & Warnings
Do not mix bleach with ammonia or products containing ammonia.
