A JPEG file is a widely-used file format for images and can be viewed easily in any image viewer such as Windows Photo Viewer or Microsoft Paint. You might need to convert an image file to Portable Document Format (PDF), however, if you want to send a clipart file to someone electronically and don't want it to be easily changed. You can do this directly using either Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop. If you don't have either of the programs installed on your computer, download a free trial from the Adobe website (see Resources.)

Instructions

  1. In Acrobat

      Open Adobe Acrobat.

      Click the "File" menu. Select "Create PDF," then click "From File."

      Select the JPEG file that you want to convert. Click "Browse" to locate the file on your computer.

      Click "Open." The file will be converted and opened in a new Adobe Acrobat document.

      Click "File," then "Save as" to save the file.

    In Photoshop

      Open the JPEG file in Adobe Photoshop.

      Click "File," then select "Save as."

      Select "Photoshop PDF" from the file type menu.

      Click "Save." A "Save Adobe PDF" dialog box will appear.

      Click "Save PDF."
