Instructions
-
Leaf Fairy Tutu
-
1
Cut a length of elastic to fit around the waist of the person wearing the costume.
-
2
Determine how long you want the tulle to hang from the waist. Cut several pieces of of tulle twice that length; i.e. for 6 inches of tulle to hang from the waist, cut the tulle into 12-inch lengths. Fold the lengths of tulle over the elastic band with equal lengths hanging from either side. Tie the two pieces into a knot at the elastic band, creating a double layer of material flowing from the waistband.
-
-
3
Punch holes in silk leaves with a hole punch. Loop satin ribbon through the holes and tie at the top of the leaves. Tie the other end of the ribbon to the elastic waist band, alternating between layers of tulle. Continue until your tutu reaches desired puffiness.
-
4
Dab spots of hot glue onto the backs of the silk leaves with a glue gun. Press the leaves onto the ends of the lengths of tulle.
-
5
Tie off the elastic band in a small knot and bury the knot beneath a layer of tulle.
-
6
Wear the tutu over tights and a leotard in a complementary color.
Leaf Fairy Wings
-
7
Untwist and straighten the wire hangers, work out kinks with pliers. Shape the hangers into circles and twist the ends together to close the circle.
-
8
Place two of the circles together to form a figure 8, with the twist-tied ends meeting. Secure together with twine, loop securely to cover and tie over the twisted ends. Repeat with the remaining two circles.
-
9
Join the two figure 8s with twine.
-
10
Cut the legs off of an old pair of tights and cover each figure 8 with one of the legs. Gather the excess fabric and tie together at the center of the wings.
-
11
Line the outer rims of the wings with glue and attach leaves so that they fan out of the wings. Layer more leaves from the outer edges to the center of the wings. Glue two lengths of ribbon to serve as shoulder straps to the center of the wings.
Leaf Fairy Wand
-
12
Paint a 12-inch dowel with glitter craft paint. Allow to dry.
-
13
Cut several 5-inch pieces of ribbon and attach with glue to stream from one end of the dowel.
-
14
Select two identical silk leaves. Line the edges of the leaves with glue. Place the top of the dowel between the two leaves and press glued edges together, sealing the dowel top inside.
Leaf Fairy Headband
-
15
Place a pipe cleaner between two silk leaves. Glue the leaves together, leaving half of the pipe cleaner dangling from between the leaves.
-
16
Twist and secure the exposed portion of the pipe cleaner around the headband.
-
17
Repeat this process until your headband reaches desired fullness.
