How to Reprogram a Key for a 2001 Ford Taurus
Chip keys, also known as transponder keys, are an extra security measure for owners of the 2001 Ford Taurus. This key must be programmed and present to start the car, and provides protection from theft and hot wiring. You can program or reprogram your transponder key for your Taurus if you already have two keys that are programmed. The car generally comes with three keys, and as long as the first two are programmed by the dealership or a locksmith, you can program a lost signal or replacement key on the third yourself.
