How to Install Pontoon Boat Covers
Pontoon boats are designed to be stable and roomy with a large, open and flat floor area, perfect for relaxing on the lake. However, when stored outside, this area collects pine needles, leaves and dirt. Covering the pontoon boat prevents buildup of this debris and makes getting ready for the boating season easier. However, the boat cover must be installed properly to last through the off season.

Buy an appropriately sized boat cover for your boat. Either buy one made for your boat from the dealer or have one custom made.

Insert pontoon boat cover support poles into the support holes in the deck by inserting the narrow ends into the holes. Note that not all boats have these poles. Pontoon boats with open decks will have one or two support holes.

Slide the pontoon boat cover over the vessel from end to end. Then pull the sides of the cover down across the sides of the boat. Position the cover so an equal amount of fabric is on each side of the boat.

Attach the pontoon boat cover straps to the frame of the trailer or the boat, depending on its configuration. Some boat covers are designed to secure to the trailer while others secure to the boat itself. Wrap the straps around and back through the buckle. Then pull them tight.

Adjust the cover as necessary and pull the straps tight on the opposing sides until the cover is aligned and fitted over the entire boat. Check the cover for snugness around the bottom and make sure that each strap is tightened and secure.

Tips & Warnings
Check the cover, throughout the off season, to ensure the straps are still secure and tight.
