The easiest way to tell that the cell battery on your Dell 8600 motherboard is failing is that your computer loses time. This battery is what makes your computer hold onto certain real-time information, such as date and time, when your computer is turned off. Replacing this battery is something even a beginner can accomplish. Once the battery is changed, nothing more needs to be done. The computer will automatically recognize the new battery.
