Things You'll Need

  • 20-oz. drink bottle

  • Beans or rice

  • Packing tape

  • Mittens

  • Thread

  • Needle

  • Jingle bells

  • Paint or markers

Pep rallies are a fun time to make lots of noise and cheer your favorite team to the win. Making your own noise makers is easy enough for children and can be accomplished quickly. All you need are a few simple household items to make these noise makers.

Shakers

Step 1

Wash out a water or soda bottle.

Fill the bottle with dried beans, unpopped popcorn kernels or uncooked rice.

Step 3

Screw the lid on tightly, taping it shut with clear packing tape.

Step 4

Decorate with paint or markers in your team colors.

Step 5

Shake the bottle to make the noise loud.

Hand Bells

Step 1

Thread the needle with thread that matches the mittens.

Sew the bells onto the fingertips of the mittens.

Pull the mittens on and shake or clap your hands, making the bells ring.
