Keyless entry systems emerged in the 1990s as a move for the automotive industry toward the remote controlled world. These systems allow you to access the doors, panic alarm and engine of your GM vehicle, and can be bought from the dealership or installed aftermarket. The keyless entry system's remotes can be programmed or reprogrammed in just minutes from your vehicle with no previous experience or knowledge.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter your vehicle with your keyless entry remote and ignition key in hand. Close all of the doors behind you and insert your key into the ignition.

    • 2

Press and hold the "Unlock" tab on the driver's side door and be prepared to hold it through the following steps.

    • 3

Cycle the key in the ignition from the "On" position to the "Off" position twice in a row and release the "Unlock" button. Wait for the car to respond by cycling the locks.

    • 4

Hold down both the unlock and lock buttons on your remote until the doors respond by cycling the locks again.

    • 5

Repeat step four with any other remotes that you are programming, waiting for the locks to cycle each time.

    • 6

Turn the key in the ignition back to the "On" position to end the programming sequence.
