How to Draw Styles of Anime Hair
Anime and manga hairstyles are known for being wild and exaggerated, which often is part of the appeal. The variety of hairstyles help convey things such as personality, temperament, and even the genre of the series.

1
Draw a circle for your base. This represents the head if you haven't already drawn one.
-
2
Decide what style of hair you want to draw. Keep in mind things such as the character's personality and background. If you've already drawn the face, look at what kind of expression the character has. A more outspoken character is more likely to have wilder hair.

3
Mark a point on the head where the hair parts; this influences which way the strands of hair flow.
-
4
Sketch the shape of the hair around the head. Anime hair tends to be big, so don't draw the hair plastered to the skull. Use general lines to determine the style, then fill in the details.
-
5
Divide the hair into sections to fill in details. For example, the bangs go a different way from the rest of the hair, especially if the style is short.

Tips & Warnings
However unrealistic it may seem, anime hair is often based on real hairstyles. Look in the mirror to see how your hair parts, how it looks tucked behind your ears etc. This will give you a guideline for your drawing.
