How to Reprogram an Impala Key Fob

Save

The Chevrolet Impala has been manufactured throughout the 1990s and 2000s, and today offers drivers the keyless entry remote system. Whether the system was installed with the car or purchased as an aftermarket option, you can program or reprogram your remote in just minutes from the car. Reprogramming requires only your ignition key and your keyless remote and will allow you to use the remote immediately.

  • Enter your car with the ignition key and keyless remote. Close all of the doors behind you.

  • Insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position.

  • Press and hold the radio's "DISP" button until the settings menu pops up.

  • Press the down button on the radio until the display reads "FOB PROG."

  • Press the side arrow button once and press the "DISP" button to enter the programming sequence.

  • Wait for the display to read "PUSH FOB" then press and hold both the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on your remote. Hold the buttons for 15 seconds and wait for the car to emit a tone indicating successful programming.

  • Repeat Step 6 for any additional remotes that you need to reprogram.

  • Use the radio arrows to scroll to "Exit" on the menu then press the "DISP" button to end the programming sequence.
