A recreational vehicle looks best when it is free of dents and scratches, but avoiding these nicks is nearly impossible. When traveling, rocks can easily shoot out from under tires and cause dents on the siding, marring the appearance of your recreational vehicle. These dents are quite common on a recreational vehicle's siding and cause only minor damage. However, you can easily hide these unsightly dents on your siding and restore the appearance of your recreational vehicle.
Things You'll Need
- Power drill
- Drill bit, 1/8 inch
- Sheet metal screw
- Locking pliers
- Sandpaper, medium-grit
- Body filler
- Plastic scraper
- Sandpaper, 36-grit
- Wooden block
- Sandpaper, 120-grit
Drill a 4 mm pilot hole in the center of the dent using a power drill and a 1/8 inch drill bit. Hold the drill steady to prevent it from slipping.
Place a sheet metal screw halfway inside the hole, and then grip screw with locking pliers. Pull on the metal screw with the locking pliers to pop the dent out.
Rub the dented area with a medium-grit sandpaper to remove the paint. Completely fill in the dent by applying body filler to the area using a plastic scraper. Allow the body filler to thoroughly dry.
Wrap 36-grit sandpaper around a wooden block and begin sanding the area. Continue sanding the area with 120-grit sandpaper, and then apply five coats of primer on the area using a paintbrush. Allow each coat of primer 15 minutes to dry before applying the next coat.
