Instructions

    • 1

Drill holes into the brick, using a drill with the proper bit. The depth of the hole should be only slightly greater than the length of the anchor. Also the width of the anchors should be the same as the bit width. Place screws where you would want the corners of the shelf to be. You will generally need to drill four holes for four different screws. Make sure that the line between the screws is level, using a straight edge and a level to mark where you want to put the screw.

    • 2

Insert the anchors. The anchors should be strong enough to hold the shelf. Determine how much weight you want the shelf to hold and divide the weight by four. This should be the amount that each anchor should hold. For example, if the shelf weight is 200 pounds, each anchor should be rated at 50 pounds. Stick the anchors into each hole.

    • 3

Drill the screws into the anchors, using a drill bit that fits the screws. The anchors will expand and hold the screws in place. Once the screws are in place, you can then mount your shelf.
