How to Remove Super Glue Off Windows

Super Glue may have been used on your window as a quick repair for leaks and gaps. You, or the previous owner of the home, may have utilized Super Glue for a permanent decoration as well. Now that you are ready to replace or properly correct the window, removing the glue is your top priority.

Things You'll Need

  • Cotton swabs
  • Acetone-based nail polish remover
  • Warm, soapy water
  • Clear water
  • Towel
  • Knife
  • Wet down the towel in the soapy water and ring out the excess moisture. Wipe the Super Glue cluster so the dirt and debris is cleared away.

  • Dip the end of the cotton swab into the acetone-based nail polish remover. Rub the acetone solution over the Super Glue cluster on the window. Repeat with heavy saturation until the Super Glue begins to soften.

  • Scrape the cluster of glue with the knife while placing more of the acetone solution on the spot. Rub the remaining outline of Super Glue with a fresh swab dipped in the nail polish remover to rid the area of glue completely.

  • Ring out the towel once more and wipe the surface of the window clean. Rinse out the towel in the clear water and wipe the window once more. Wipe the entire surface where the cotton swab and acetone touched.

  • Discard the cotton swabs, dump out the water and immediately wash your hands.

Tips & Warnings

  • The acetone cannot be digested or allowed to come in contact with the eyes.
