Instructions

  1. Accessing the Tools and Spare Tire

    • 1

      Open the liftgate.

    • 2

Pull the release lever on the left trim panel and open the panel door.

    • 3

Turn the wing nut holding the vehicle tool kit counterclockwise and remove the kit.

    • 4

Turn the knob holding the jack counterclockwise and remove the bottle jack.

    • 5

Connect the two jack extension handles.

    • 6

Attach the wheel wrench to the end of the jack handle.

    • 7

Insert the open end of the jack handle into the hole located in the center of the rear bumper. Push it through until it connects to the hoist shaft, which is in the rear compartment above the spare tire.

    • 8

Lower the spare tire to the ground by turning the wheel wrench counterclockwise.

    • 9

Pull up the retaining clip in the center of the spare to release it from the cable.

    Changing the Tire

    • 10

Pry off the center cap of the flat tire. Use the flat end of the wheel wrench.

    • 11

Loosen the lug nuts with the wheel wrench. Do not remove them.

    • 12

Position the bottle jack with the head under the frame of the vehicle. If you are changing a front tire, the jacking position is located behind the wheel well where the frame overlaps. For a rear tire, the jacking position is located directly behind the wheel well. If you have difficulty locating the jacking positions, your owner's manual has a diagram you can refer to.

    • 13

Raise the vehicle with the jack. For front tires, you need to use only one jack extension and the wheel wrench. For rear tires, you will need to use both jack extensions and the wheel wrench.

    • 14

Unscrew the lug nuts and remove them.

    • 15

      Pull off the old tire.

    • 16

Position the spare tire on the wheel. Line up the holes with the wheel bolts.

    • 17

Screw the lug nuts onto the spare by hand.

    • 18

Lower the vehicle to the ground.

    • 19

Tighten the lug nuts with the wheel wrench.
