If your children dream of carrying the torch in the Olympic games, then give them the experience through role playing. You will need a paper Olympic torch, which can be assembled very easily with a few simple craft materials. Make this art project a joint project with your children.
Things You'll Need
- White posterboard
- Clear tape
- Sheets of orange, red and yellow tissue paper
- White craft glue
Place the white posterboard on your workspace, and roll it into a cone. An easy way to do this is to grasp the two ends of the poster board, and to bring them together while pushing one side up and one side down until the poster board forms a cone. Secure the cone with tape.
Add the "fire" to the torch. To do this, "layer the tissue paper squares, red on the bottom, then orange, and yellow on top," advises the free craft website.
Pinch the center of the tissue paper squares, and stuff into the cone.
Secure the tissue paper plumes with a little white craft glue. Continue stuffing and gluing tissue paper "flames" unitl they fill the torch.
