How to Fix a Kohler Sink Sprayer

Kohler is known for its kitchen and bathroom faucets and fixtures, most of which offer individualized, stylish designs. Kohler kitchen sinks come with sprayers for cleaning around your sink and rinsing and preparing fruits and vegetables, among other uses. When your Kohler sink sprayer malfunctions or stops working, it can be an inconvenience. You can troubleshoot and fix your Kohler sprayer yourself in a few simple steps.

Things You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Water
  • Pliers
  • Dishwashing soap
  • Soft bristle brush
  • Check around the tip of the Kohler sink sprayer and in the aerator holes where the water comes out for mineral deposits that may have formed. Mineral deposits might cover a large portion of the holes on the sprayer, causing it to shoot a lower water pressure. Remove the sink sprayer head from the sprayer by twisting it off. Soak it in a 50:50 mixture of white vinegar and water for a couple of hours.

  • Look at the diverter valve that is on the kitchen faucet; it supplies water to the sink sprayer. If your diverter valve is worn out or clogged, it might cause your sink sprayer to have a low water pressure. Remove the diverter valve by turning off the water supply and removing the valve from the faucet head with a pair of pliers. Clean the diverter valve with water, dishwashing soap and a soft bristle brush. If it is covered in heavy mineral deposits, soak it in a 50:50 solution of white vinegar and water for a couple of hours before you clean it.

  • Examine the Kohler sink sprayer hose for leaks, cracks or excessive wear. If the hose is damaged, replace it by following the directions in your Kohler sink sprayer owner’s manual.
